Bulls Earn Road Win at Northern Illinois on Friday

DEKALB, IL – The University at Buffalo women's tennis team (15-4, 2-0 MAC) defeated Northern Illinois 5-2 on Friday afternoon. With the win, the Bulls improve to 2-0 in Mid-American Conference play.
Buffalo got off to a solid start as Julia Laspro and Sarah Hartel won 6-4 at third doubles and Esmee Andresen and Maria Glowacka rallied from 3-1 down for a 6-4 victory of their own at the first position to clinch the doubles point and give UB a 1-0 lead.
In singles action, the hosts got on the board with a win at second singles, but the Bulls answered with three straight wins as Sarah Hartel battled to a 6-4, 7-6 victory at fourth singles and Glowacka overcame a dropped second set to win 6-3, 5-7, 6-2 at third singles before Andresen battled to a three-set victory of her own, 6-4, 4-6, 6-1, to clinch the match for UB. Blanca Berges then rounded out the scoring for UB with a 6-4, 7-5 win at six singles.
Up next, Buffalo returns to action on Friday, March 27 at Eastern Michigan.
