
Bulls Victorious at WNY Invite

ST. BONAVENTURE, NY – The University at Buffalo women's tennis team put together a strong showing at the Western New York Invitational, hosted by St. Bonaventure, recording a pair of 7-0 sweeps over the hosts and Niagara.
Up first, against the Bonnies, the Bulls swept the doubles point as Julia Laspro and Maria Glowacka won 6-2 at first doubles, Sarah Hartel and Aleksandra Kachushkina dominated in a 6-0 victory at second doubles and Blanca Berges and Liv Roestel cruised to a 6-1 win at the third position.
The Bulls then rolled through singles action winning all six matches in straight sets as Kachushkina won 6-1, 6-0 at first singles, Hartel dominated in a 6-0, 6-0 win at second singles and Laspro won 6-3, 6-0 at third singles. Glowacka battled to a 6-4, 7-5 victory at fourth singles, Sofia Zagumennova rolled to a 6-0, 6-0 win at fifth singles and Roestel also impressed with a 6-1, 6-1 win at six singles.
The Bulls took the doubles point in the second match of the day against the Purple Eagles as Hartel and Kachushkina won 6-2 at second singles and Berges and Roestel also picked up a 6-2 win at the third position.
Buffalo ran through singles again as Kachushkina won 6-1, 6-2 at first singles, Hartel won 6-0, 6-3 at second singles, Laspro won 6-2, 6-2 at third singles and Glowacka picked up a 6-1, 6-2 win at fourth singles. Berges and Annabelle Ganescu both moved into the singles lineup and impressed with the former winning 6-1, 6-1 win at fifth singles and the latter picking up a 6-4, 6-2 victory at six singles.
Up next, Buffalo will return to action October 23-25 at the MAC Fall Championships, hosted by Western Michigan.
