
Five Bulls Earn Academic All-MAC Honors

BUFFALO, NY – Five members of the University at Buffalo women's tennis team were named to the 2026 Academic All-Mid-American Conference Team, the league announced on Monday afternoon. A total of 39 student-athletes were named to this year's squad.
Graduate student Esmee Andresen and junior Julia Laspro earn the honor for the second straight season while sophomores Blanca Berges, Maria Glowacka and Liv Roestel were recognized for the first time in their careers.
Andresen, who maintains a 3.51 GPA and is currently pursuing a master's in business administration with a STEM focus, earned First Team honors for the second consecutive season after recording double digit singles and doubles win totals for three straight years. She posted 21 singles victories in her final season in the blue and white, including 15 overall and five in MAC play at the first position. She was also been a force in doubles action, recording a team-best 21 doubles victories with Glowacka. The Rijswijk, The Netherlands native ranks in the top 15 in program history with 61 singles wins while also ranking 12th with 54 doubles victories.
A business administration and finance major with a 3.87 GPA, Glowacka earned All-MAC honors for the first time in her career after having recording double digit singles and doubles win totals for the second straight season. She set a new career high with 23 singles victories which was also tied for the team-lead. The Torun, Poland native was also been a dominant force at the top of the doubles lineup with Andresen, notching 21 victories.
Laspro, a biomedical sciences major with a 3.599 GPA, had a solid junior campaign, recording back-to-back seasons with double-digit singles win totals for the first time in her career. She notched a career-best 18 singles victories, playing primarily at the second and third positions, while also recording a career-high 20 doubles victories, including a 17-4 dual mark with teammate Sarah Hartel.
A business administration major with a 3.86 GPA, Berges continued her strong play as she tied a career-high with 18 singles wins, primarily at the sixth position, including a team-best 6-2 mark in MAC play, while notching 13 doubles victories, including a 12-3 dual mark with partner Roestel.
Roestel, a business administration major with a 3.93 GPA, continued to be a steadying presence in the UB lineup as she recorded 15 singles wins while also tying a career-best with 15 doubles victories, including a 12-3 dual mark with Berges. The Kaiserslautern, Germany native picked up a signature win in February as she defeated Syracuse's Emma Scaldalai for the first Power 4 victory of her career, while also teaming with Berges to pick up a win over the Orange at second doubles.
The Academic All-MAC honor is for a student-athlete who has excelled in athletics and academics. To qualify, a student-athlete must have at least a 3.20 cumulative GPA and have participated in at least 50 percent of the contests scheduled or completed in the particular sport. First-year students and ANY transfer students in their first year of residence are not eligible for the award. Outstanding academic and athletic accomplishments for the current season only are considered.
