
Men’s And Women’s Tennis Set To Host St. Francis On Saturday

BUFFALO, NY – The University at Buffalo men's and women's tennis teams will host a doubleheader on Saturday afternoon as both squads will host St. Francis (PA) at Miller Tennis Center.
The day will begin at 1:30 pm as the women's team will kick things off. The Bulls are 1-0 on the season and coming off a 6-1 victory over St. Bonaventure last week. In the victory, the Bulls claimed the doubles point and won five of the six singles matches, all five of those victories coming in straight sets.
For the Red Flash, this is their first match of the 2021 season. St. Francis (PA) was 1-11 last season before the year was halted due to COVID.
The UB men's team will follow it up beginning at 4pm when they begin their 2021 season. The Bulls were scheduled to start the season last week but had their first match at Youngstown State cancelled.
Buffalo returns five players from last season, led by seniors Matthew Johnson and Valdemar Holm and junior Simon Wibler. Also returning is junior Jonah Murphy and sophomore Greg Hastings. Saturday's match is the much anticipated debut of three newcomers, led by Baylor transfer Bjoern Petersen. Also making their UB debuts are freshmen Finn Macnamara and Tom Owen.
The St. Francis (PA) men's team is 0-2 on the year heading into Saturday's contest. The Red Flash dropped a 7-0 decision to Toledo and lost 4-3 to Morgan State this past Sunday.
