
Bulls Roll To 6-1 Victory Over St. Francis (PA)

WILLIAMSVILLE, NY – The University at Buffalo women's tennis team completed a 6-1 victory over St. Francis (PA) on Saturday afternoon, taking the doubles point and winning five of the six matches in singles. With the win, UB improves to 2-0 on the season.
The Bulls won by default at third doubles and then completed a 6-0 shutout at first doubles courtesy of Nikoleta Antoniou-Karademitrou and Gabriella Akopyan. The Bulls won at second doubles getting a tiebreaker win from Hsin Yuan Shih and freshman Mariana Carvajal Torres, 7-6 (5).
In singles action, Akopyan dominated her way through singles with a 6-0, 6-0 win at first singles. Azra Deniz Comlek then won at fourth singles, 6-2, 6-1 and sophomore Ambre Amat won at third singles, 6-0, 6-2.
The Red Flash came away with a three-set win at second singles and the Bulls won in three sets at fifth singles from sophomore Lolina Schietekat Sedas as she won 6-2, 4-6, 10-7. The Bulls won at sixth singles by default.
"I am happy with the way we came out today and I think we definitely improved from last week," said head coach Kristen Maines. "You can tell this team is grateful to be on the court every chance they can together, and we are looking forward to growing and continuing as one group."
The Bulls will next be in action at Cleveland State on Feb. 26.
