BUFFALO, NY – The University at Buffalo men's tennis team was announced as an All-Academic team by the Intercollegiate Tennis Association on Monday, while six players earned Scholar Athlete honors.
The Bulls were one of 186 teams across the country to earn All-Academic honors as they finished with a cumulative grade point average of over 3.2 for the 2019-20 season.
Individually, six Buffalo players had a cumulative GPA of 3.5 or higher for the 2019-20 season, joining a list that includes just under 1,000 athletes. Seniors Hao Sheng Koay and Vilhelm Fridell were both honored as were juniors Matthew Johnson and Valdemar Holm. Sophomores Jonah Murphy and Simon Wibler complete the list of Bulls.
Earlier in the spring, Fridell was announced as the national winner of the Rafael Osuna Sportsmanship Award by the ITA, while he was also the northeast regional winner of the Rafael Osuna Sportsmanship Award and the Arthur Ashe Leadership and Sportsmanship Award.
