
Women's Soccer Opens Up Conference Action At Home On Friday Night

BUFFALO, NY - The University at Buffalo, The State University of New York women's soccer team opens up conference play with a home match against the Ohio Bobcats on Friday at 7:00 pm.
The Bulls open up their pursuit for back-to-back Mid-American Conference championships on Friday at UB Stadium, a venue that UB owns a 13-0-2 record at over the past two seasons. The Bulls are coming off of a great effort against #7 West Virginia last time out as they fell in overtime 1-0 on an own goal. UB's offensive attack is led by Julia Benati who leads the team with two goals and an assist while Kassidy Kidd leads the squad with three assists. Carissima Cutrona seems to be settling in for the Bulls as she has one goal and one assist while leading the team with 23 shots.
The strength of the Bulls team so far this season has been the defense, led by reigning All-American center back Jackie Hall and goalkeeper Laura Dougall. The backline of Hall, Andrea Niper, Angel Hart and Brianna Shingary have helped Dougall earn four cleansheets while owning a 0.82 goals-against average. Dougall has been solid all year long as she is coming off a career-best 10 save performance last time out and currently ranks third in program history in cleansheets (17) and fifth in wins (20).
The Ohio Bobcats come to Buffalo with a 2-5-0 overall record following back-to-back wins. The Bobcats defeated Robert Morris 3-0 and Xavier 2-1 after opening the year on a five-game losing streak. Ohio is led offensively by Stephanie Rowland and Alexis Milesky who have each recorded two goals on the year. In goal, all three Ohio goalkeepers have saw some action with Vanessa Cordoba leading the way with four starts.
The Bulls hold the 9-8-1 all-time series record against the Ohio Bobcats after notching a double overtime victory on the road at Ohio last season, 1-0.
UB will return home on Sunday for a noon match against the Kent State Golden Flashes at UB Stadium.
