BUFFALO, NY - The University at Buffalo, The State University of New York women's soccer team (2-1-0, 0-0-0 MAC) earned their second straight clean sheet on Sunday afternoon as they defeated crosstown rival Canisius, 2-0, on the road. Julia Benati led the way for the Bulls with the game-winning goal and an assist on the Bulls second goal of the contest by Andrea Niper.

- The Short Story: The University at Buffalo women's soccer team collected their second straight road victory on Sunday afternoon as they defeated crosstown rival Canisius, 2-0. It was the second straight cleansheet for sophomore Laura Dougall who now sits in third place on the Bulls all-time shutouts list with 15. Julia Benati had her best game of the season as she scored the game-winning goal and added an assist while she added three shots.

How It Happened
- The Bulls jumped out to a quick start on Sunday as they were able to find the back of the net just 4:07 into the match. Julia Benati recorded her first of the season as Celina Carrero gave her a nice back pass feed and she buried the ball into the upper right corner from 16 yards out.
- The UB attack didn't let up as just a minute later Carissima Cutrona put a shot off the post and her rebound came out to Celina Carrero who saw her shot saved by the keeper.
- In the 12th minute, Kassidy Kidd saw one of her seven shots hit the post to keep the score 1-0 in favor of the Bulls.
- Laura Dougall was forced to make her best save of the first half in the 19th minute as she stopped the shot attempt by Emily Kuta.
- The two sides went back and forth in the second half as Carissima Cutrona saw her second shot of the afternoon ring off the post, keeping the score 1-0 in favor of UB. Canisius saw a pair of their shot attempts saved by Laura Dougall.
- Finally in the 82nd minute the Bulls were able to put the game away as Andrea Niper found the back of the net for her first of the season. The Bulls played a short corner pass from Brianna Shingary to Julia Benati who whipped the ball in to Niper who finished off the goal.
Inside The Numbers
- The cleansheet for Laura Dougall gives her 15 for her career and two on the season. Her 15 cleansheets move her into sole possession of third place on the Bulls all-time shutouts list.
- Sophomore Julia Benati finished the game with a goal and assist for three points, the most points in a game in her UB career.
- Freshman Brianna Shingary collected her first career point, an assist, on Andrea Niper's goal in the 82nd minute.
- Senior Kassidy Kidd finished off the afternoon with a career-high seven shots in the victory.
- The Bulls finished off the victory with a season-high 20 shots, outshooting the Golden Griffins 20-11.

Following the match, Benati was awarded the "Player of the Match" award by the UB coaching staff after a great game offensively for the Bulls. Benati finished with the game-winning goal and an assist to go along with three shots.
