
Markiewicz And Petrie Named To MAC All-Tournament Team

BUFFALO, NY - Senior Kristin Markiewicz and sophomore Moira Petrie from the University at Buffalo, The State University of New York women's soccer team were selected to the Mid-American Conference All-Tournament team following this past weekend's MAC Tournament.
Markiewicz was a key component of the Bulls backline that helped secure a quarterfinal victory over Central Michigan and advance to their second straight MAC semifinal for the first time in program history. Markiewicz was strong all tournament long for UB who allowed just 13 shots over a two game MAC tournament span. The senior captain was awarded All-Tournament team honors for the first time in her impressive UB career.
Petrie was a spark plug for the Bulls offensive attack over both MAC Tournament games as she used her potent skill set to her advantage. The sophomore was dangerous all afternoon long in the quarterfinal match against Central Michigan as she finished with a season-high three shots while assisting on the Bulls first goal, her third assist of the season. In the semifinal match, Petrie had another strong match as she set her teammates up with multiple great chances throughout the match. TPetrie received All-Tournament team recognition for the first time in her career.
The Bulls wrapped up the season with a 11-7-3 overall record to go along with a 7-3-1 MAC mark and their second straight MAC East title. They became the first women's team in UB history to win back-to-back MAC East titles in the process. UB has combined for 27 victories over the past two seasons, the best two-year stretch in program history.
