BUFFALO, NY - Get to know Jackie Hall, senior captain of the UB women's soccer team.
Why did you choose UB?
JH: "I chose UB mostly because of the soccer program. When I came for a visit everyone was so nice to me and I felt that it was a place that I could fit in well. A place that I also get to wake up and do my favorite thing every day, play soccer. Academically I came here because it was one of the few schools that offered photography as a major."
What is your favorite part of being an UB student-athlete?
JH: "My favorite part of being an UB student-athlete is meeting all the people I have met here. The last couple of years I have made some great connections socially and professionally that I know will last me a life time. Being a student-athlete has also taught me so much about being accountable and responsible and has really prepared me for my future."
What do you like to do in your free time?
JH: "In my free time I like to hang out with my teammates/roommates. I also love to go hiking and enjoying the outdoors. Not to mention I really enjoy watching movies of all kinds."
What is your major and why did you choose it?
JH: "I am double majoring in Communication and Psychology, I chose to major in these because I enjoyed them the most in taking my general education classes. I also feel that my communication classes have taught me things I could use in any job I were to get, no matter what field it is."
Who is your biggest role model and why?
JH: "My biggest role model is my father. He is the hardest working and most well-rounded person that I know and he always pushes me to be my best. He is my biggest supporter and he will be the first one to give me constructive criticism to not only make me a better student-athlete but a better person. I can only strive to be half the person he is one day."
Where would you go on your dream vacation?
JH: "My dream vacation would be to go on a road trip across the U.S and hit all the major National and State Parks camping along the way. Of course this trip would probably be over a couple of months."
Who is your favorite professor?
JH: "My favorite professor is Thomas Feeley. I took his course Principles of Persuasion and I thought it was very interesting and I learned a lot."
What is your dream job?
JH: "My dream job would be to work for National Geographic taking pictures of wild animals and nature that people don't get to see all the time."
If you could be any animal, what would you be?
JH: "If I could be any animal I would want to be a wolf. I think they are just the coolest and toughest animal."
What is your go to meal on the day of competition?
JH: "My go to meal on game day is a BBQ Chicken Flat Bread and Caesar Salad."
