BUFFALO, NY – After leading her team to a perfect 2-0 week including a Mid-American Conference Tournament Quarterfinal victory over Toledo, Jackie Hall was named MAC Defensive Player of the Week, as announced by the league office on Monday.
Hall has received this honor twice this season while fellow teammates Katie Roberts and Celina Carrero have each received MAC Offensive Player of the Week honors.
The Brunsick, Ohio native continued her dominant play at center back for the Bulls this week as she helped preserve a 2-0 week for UB.
The highlight of the week for Hall came in the Bulls regular season finale against Akron on Thursday. Hall battled hard all game as she helped the UB defense only allow four shots on goal but her biggest impact of the game in double overtime as she netted the game-winning marker.
The play started after a perfect corner kick by Julia Benati was received by Carrero who then passed it to Hall who headed home her second game-winner of the year. The winning goal by Hall preserved an unbeaten regular season for the Bulls (9-0-2), just the third unbeaten regular season in MAC history.
On Sunday in the MAC quarterfinals, Hall was as dominant as ever as she helped the Bulls earn their 13th clean sheet of the season, breaking a UB program record for most shutouts in a season. Hall and the defense allowed three shots on Sunday and have now held their opponents to five shots on goal or less in 14 of 19 contests.
Hall made the transition to the center back position this season following three seasons as a midfielder for the Bulls. Hall has chipped in a career-high two goals this season, both of which were game-winners.
Hall and the Bulls will return to the pitch on Friday, November 7 as they play host to Ball State in the MAC semifinals at UB Stadium. Game time is 4:00 pm with the other MAC semifinal match between Western Michigan and Northern Illinois taking place right after at 7:00 pm.
