BUFFALO, NY – Leading the University at Buffalo women's soccer team to their first 4-0 start in conference play since 1999, senior forward Katie Roberts was named Mid-American Conference Offensive Player of the Week for the second straight week, as announced by the conference office on Monday.
Roberts has now collected the award twice this season while fellow teammates Laura Dougall and Jackie Hall have each earned MAC Defensive Player of the Week honors once so far this season.
The Homerville, Ohio native continued to be one of the hottest players in the country this weekend as she finished with three goals. On Friday, Roberts notched her first multi-goal game of the season as she netted a pair of second half goals to lift the Bulls to the 3-1 win over Bowling Green. Her first goal of the game was the game-winner for UB, her fourth on the season.
In Sunday's 2-0 victory over defending MAC champions Eastern Michigan, Roberts netted the Bulls insurance goal late in the second half. She forced a Eagles turnover in the attacking third and buried the ball in the upper right corner of the net. The goal gave Roberts six goals in five games, the best five game stretch of her career.
For the weekend, She totaled nine shots, seven shots on goal, and three goals for the Bulls as they are off to their first 4-0 start in MAC play since the 1999 campaign. Roberts now leads the conference with seven goals while also leading UB in shots (39), points (16) and game-winning goals (four).
UB hits the road on Friday for a conference showdown with the Northern Illinois Huskies before returning home for a matchup with Western Michigan on Sunday. Friday's match is set for 8:00 pm and Sunday's tilt is at 12:00 pm at UB Stadium.
