BUFFALO, NY – Senior goalkeeper Ainsley Wheldon of the Buffalo women's soccer team was named Mid-American Conference Defensive Player of the Week for the second time this season, as announced by the league office on Monday.
Wheldon finished the week for the Bulls with a 1-0-2 overall record and did not allow one goal, earning three shutouts for Buffalo. Earning her MAC-leading second Player of the week honor, Wheldon currently owns a 3-1-2 overall record with a goals-against average of 0.45 and a save percentage of .893 with four shutouts.
Wheldon also earned Buffalo Athletics Athlete of the Week accolades for her stellar play on the pitch last week.
The Bulls (3-1-2) will return to the field on Wednesday, September 18 for their final non-conference game of the season as they play host to Big Four rival Niagara at UB Stadium. First kick is set for 7:00 pm on Wednesday.
