
Women's Soccer Announces 2013 Recruiting Class

BUFFALO, NY - The University at Buffalo announced six signings for their 2013 recruiting class this morning. The signees include three New York natives, two players from New Jersey, and one from Colorado. Joining the Bulls for next season will be Andrea Niper, Jennifer Colvin, Dana Lytle, Ashley Evans, Kori Hughes, and Celina Carrero.
Andrea Niper, from Princeton, New Jersey, joins the Bulls from the Jersey United Spartans Soccer Club and Montgomery High School, where she is coming off of a 2012 State Championship. Her list of awards include All-County, and All-State, and she was named the 2012 Somerset County Final MVP. In addition to this, Andrea is a stellar student and a National Honors Society member.
Coach Thomas on Niper: "Andrea is a player who had success both in club and in high school soccer. She has a good physical presence that allows her to compete in the midfield or as a forward. We are excited to have her join the UB family."

Alden, NY product Jennifer Colvin joins UB after a prolific prep career at Iroquois high school, which includes being named first team all-conference for the last three years, and two years of being named 2nd team All-Western New York. On the club side, Jennifer has a state cup championship to her credit with the Empire Revolution Soccer Club. In addition to her club and high school duties, she has been a constant member of the New York Olympic development team.
Coach Thomas on Colvin: "Jen is a very technical competitive player. She is very composed on the ball and had a fantastic run through the State Cup tournament last year."

Kori Hughes is another Western New York product from the Revolution Empire Soccer Club. With the Revolution Empire, Kori won the 2011 State Cup Championship and participated in the Region 1 regionals. As a member of the Midlakes high school team in 2009, 2010 and 2011, she was named All-State, All Greater Rochester, All League and earned the title of Finger Lakes Player of the Year. The Newark, NY native also was voted the team MVP all three years and has the school record for goals and assists in a season.
Coach Thomas on Hughes: "Kori is one of the hardest workers on the soccer field that you will ever see. She battles hard and is able to play anywhere on the field."

Ashley Evans joins the Bulls from Arsenal Colorado. She is a starting center back on the u18 Gold team that is ranked 11th in the nation while helping the team to two consecutive State Cup titles. In 2012, the team advanced to the Region IV semi-finals. Her team has also had success on the prep side where her Fort Collins High School team was a 2012 State Tournament participant. In addition to her soccer accolades, Ashley is an accomplished basketball player and has a state final four appearance to her credit.
Coach Thomas on Evans: " Ashley is a great natural athlete. She started concentrating on soccer a little later than some, but the sky is the limit for her. She has had nothing but success in the last two years and we are excited to see how she develops in the next four."

Dana Lytle will already have a familiar face joining her in Buffalo, as she will enter her college career alongside club teammate Andrea Niper from the New Jersey Spartans Soccer team. The Martinsville, NJ product was a four-year varsity soccer player at Bridgewater-Rariton High School and was a constant all-conference honoree. She was the leading scorer on her high school team her junior year and was named a team captain her senior year.
Coach Thomas on Lytle: "Dana is capable of playing in the midfield or up top. She has a nose for the ball and seems to be constantly finding the ball in dangerous situations."

Celina Carrero joins the Bulls from Quickstrike Soccer Club and Newburgh Free Academy in Newburgh, NY. Celina leaves an impressive legacy, as she leaves her high school ranked as Newburgh Free Academy's all-time leading goal scorer, leading her team in goals for all five varsity seasons. A four year varsity captain, she was awarded third team All-State honors as well as being named All-Conference and All-District. While with Quickstrike, she was the team captain in 2010-11, and led the team in goals and assists en route to being named team MVP.
Coach Thomas on Carrero: "Celina has a great soccer sense to her. She is capable of scoring goals or setting others up. We are excited to bring her into the fold"
