BUFFALO, NY - The Buffalo women's soccer staff have announced two additions to a talented 2011 recruiting class. Defender Sophie Therien and Goalkeeper Sarah Moore will be joining the UB Bulls for the upcoming season.
Therien comes to the Bulls from Kirkland, Quebec by way of Shattuck St. Mary's boarding school in Minnesota. She is a member of the under-18 soccer team playing left back, center back and center midfield. Before her time in Minnesota, Sophie split her time between the Canadian National team program and LAC- St-Louis Lakers club in her native Ontario.
Sophie was part of the Canadian under-17 national team that won the CONCACAF under-17 championships qualifying them for the under-17 World Cup in Trinidad and Tobago. Sophie started at left back and played 90 minutes for the team in the CONCACAF final. All in all, Sophie has 10 appearances for the Canadian national team program, with five coming in official matches and five coming in exhibitions.
"Sarah is a solid goalkeeper who has shown that she loves to play and wants to improve," Thomas said. "We look forward to getting her into the program and putting her into the mix."
