Buffalo's Offensive Barrage Leads to Win #1
Abman scored her first career goal in heroic fashion as her score led the Bulls to its first win of the season, a 3-2 triumph over St. Bonaventure at UB Stadium. The game was the team's home opener.
With just over two minutes remaining in the match and the game seemingly heading to overtime, Abman stole the ball from a Bonaventure defender trying to clear it away. She then juked out the goalie on the breakaway and slid a clear shot into the back of the net to give Buffalo its first lead of the season.
The resourceful Bulls scored all three goals off of St. Bonaventure defensive miscues, with senior Lindsey Bailey and sophomore Natasha Arana scoring off of free kicks to go along with Abman's goal off the steal. Arana has become the team's supersub, leading the team with two scores this season all while coming in off the bench. Bailey's goal in the first half snapped the team's scoring slump that lasted nearly two and a half games.
Up Next
Next up for the Bulls will be the Niagara University Tournament, with games against Duquesne Friday Sept. 10 and Robert Morris Sunday Sept. 12. This will be the first of back-to-back tournaments the Bulls will face in September. Buffalo, now 1-3-0 on the season, hopes to return to .500 by the end of the week.
