Bulls Drop Conference Opener
A hat trick from Bowling Green forward Alyssa Zuccaro led the Falcons to a 4-0 win over the Bulls Friday evening in the opener of the Mid-American Conference season. Senior Julie Dale led the team with three shots, putting two on goal. Her three attempts matched her season total to this point and set career and single-game records for the Cary, NC native. Her classmate, Courtney McHale, saw action in her second straight game between the pipes, allowing one goal while also making a save.
Bulls Score Three But Fall to Miami
The Bulls offense made its first shot count against Miami (OH) Sunday afternoon and scored a season-high three goals, but the team fell just short, falling 4-3. The team took only five shots, but made them count, getting scores from three separate players.
Freshman Megan Abman scored in the fifth minute from just outside the box for her third goal of the season. Senior Lindsey Bailey assisted on the goal, her second assist of the season.
Sophomore Taylor Thompson put home a header off of a rebound to even the score in the 34th minute. A late first-half goal from the Redhawks put Buffalo down 3-2 going into the half. The goal was Thompson's first of the season and of her career.
The team's final goal came in the final minutes of the game, as junior Shannon Algoe also tallied her first career goal with the team, cashing in on a corner kick from sophomore Natasha Arana.
Freshman goalie Ainsley Wheldon had a busy day against the Miami offensive attack, making nine saves. The three goals from the team matched the previous high it set in a win against St. Bonaventure.
