Bulls drop two over the weekend
The Buffalo women's soccer team began its weekend out west with a 3-0 loss Friday afternoon (8/27) at Wyoming. The Bulls managed only one shot on goal in its second straight loss. Freshman Ainsley Wheldon stopped eight shots in her first collegiate start in goal, her second appearance of the season.
The team then traveled down south to take on the University of Denver Sunday afternoon (8/29). It was a "home" game for four members of the Buffalo squad, with junior Aubrey Stahl (Loveland, CO), sophomore Danielle Quigley (Arvada, CO), and freshmen Lauren Coviello (Parker, CO) and Megan Abman (Denver, CO) all returning to their home state.
The team picked up its second straight 3-0 loss, falling to the University of Denver to cap the weekend. The team continues to try and find its identity on offense as its scoreless streak now sits at 210 minutes following a second straight shutout.
Wheldon had a busy afternoon against the Pioneer offense, recording nine saves in the game, nearly matching the amount of saves she recorded during the first two games of the season. In the 12 minutes following the second Denver goal, Wheldon helped turn away five shots on goal and four corner kicks.
The loss drops the Bulls to 0-3 on the season.
