Shannon Algoe Earns MAC All Academic Honors

BUFFALO, NY - After scoring two goals and anchoring the Buffalo defense for the entire season, sophomore Shannon Algoe was honored with a spot on the Mid American Conference's All Academic Team this afternoon. The award, awarded through a voting process conducted by faculty athletic representatives from the conference schools, recognizes excellence in the classroom and performance on the field..
Algoe, a business management major from Lockport, NY, transferred to Buffalo from the University of Connecticut. Her presence was felt immediately on the squad and she ultimately started every game, one of only two players to do so this season. Playing mainly as the team's last line of defense, Algoe managed to pitch in two goals for the season, second-best on the team.
Aside from her work on the field, she went above and beyond in the classroom, posting a perfect 4.0 grade-point average.
