Sarah Tranelli has been a member of the University at Buffalo athletic communications department since 2019.
In 2025, she was promoted to assistant athletic director for communications and fan engagement after serving as director for communications since 2022. At UB, Tranelli is the primary contact for women's basketball, women’s soccer, and men's and women's tennis.
One of her proudest accomplishments was reviving UB's women's basketball Education Day. The event has set a program attendance record in back-to-back years and has been an impactful tool for community building in Buffalo and Western New York.
Prior to arriving at Buffalo, Tranelli served as an Assistant Sports Information Director at Fordham University where she was the primary contact for men’s and women’s track and field, men’s and women’s tennis and men’s golf, while serving as the secondary contact for football, women’s basketball and softball. Tranelli was also the secondary communications contact for 2018 Atlantic 10 Softball Tournament.
Before her time in the Bronx, Tranelli was the Sports Director at NewsChannel 34 in Binghamton, NY where she anchored the 6pm and 11pm sportscasts five nights a week.
A 2013 graduate of Ohio University with a degree in Broadcast Journalism, Tranelli was a four-year member of the golf team. She was named the 2013 Mid-American Conference Sportswoman of the Year and was a four-time WGCA All-American Scholar Golf Team selection.
A member of the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA), Tranelli currently lives in Amherst.
