2011-12: Raced in five cross country meets. Finished 84th at MAC Cross Country Championships in 24:45.1. Had top 6K cross country time of 24:32 at Penn State National Invitational. Finished 15th in the 3,000m steeplechase (12:08.33) at MAC Outdoor Championships. Had team’s top 3,000m steeplechase time of 11:07.58 at Bucknell Bison Outdoor Classic. Placed 18th in the mile (season-best 5:10.41) at MAC Indoor Championships. Also had UB’s fastest 1,000m indoor time of 2:58.75 at SPIRE Division I Invitational.
High School: Won four letters and captained two seasons at Holland Patent High School for coaches John Reilley and Phil Lucason. Earned New York Class C all-star honors twice, and was also named to the Tri Valley League and Central New York all-star teams. Set school records in four distance events and two relays. Also lettered in nordic skiing.
Personal: Born January 18, 1993. Daughter of Ted Rice and Ann Brelsford. Has one brother (Zack Rice). Favorite athlete is world champion middle distance runner Jennifer Barringer Simpson. Lists author Ayn Rand as a non-sports hero. Great uncle Quentin Brelsford won the 1946 NCAA Division III cross country title at Ohio Wesleyan while grandfather Clayton Brelsford won the indoor mile at the 1935 Western Conference (precursor to the Big Ten) Championships. Majoring in chemical engineering.
