
Track & Field Earns USTFCCCA 2025 All-Academic Awards

NEW ORLEANS – The University at Buffalo track & field program earned All-Academic honors from the US Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association for the both the men's and women's teams for the 2024-25 NCAA Division I season. Zahra Amos earned individual recognition too, being named an All-Academic Athlete.
The women's track and field team posted a record grade point average of 3.485, the highest GPA in a single semester in program history. The men's track and field program earned All-Academic honors with a grade point average of 3.166.
Amos, a senior biology major, earned All-Academic Athlete honors with a cumulative grade point average of 3.262. The Australian native had a senior season to remember, becoming the first female athlete from Buffalo to qualify for the NCAA Outdoor Championships in the high jump since Shelly Hamilton in 1998. Amos set a new personal record in the outdoor high jump at the NCAA East First Rounds with a mark of 1.79 meters, rising to third in UB outdoor history. The senior also won the high jump at MAC Indoor Championships with a personal best and school record mark of 1.81 meters.
Athletes who receive All-Academic honors from the USTFCCCA have a minimum grade point average of 3.25 while finishing inside the top 96 of their event nationwide or competing in the preliminary round of the NCAA Division I Championships. A full list of All-Academic athletes can be accessed here.
For a team to qualify for the honor, they must have a cumulative grade point average of 3.0 or higher on a 4.0 scale, including the most recent grading period. The full list of teams can be accessed here.
