LAS VEGAS – The University at Buffalo softball team (0-2, 0-0 MAC) fell to the nationally ranked Oregon Ducks and the UNLV Rebels on opening day.
In the season opener, the Bulls fell to the No. 23 Oregon Ducks in their first ever meeting, 21-1.
In game two at the UNLV Desert Classic, the Bulls managed to take a 3-0 lead in the first inning. Emily Gorman started the game off with a walk, followed by a Mia Mitchell fielder's choice. Ardyn Hopf reached on a fielder's chose as the Rebel defense got the lead runner. Abbey Nagel reached base after getting hit by pitch to load the bases. Isabella Smithson earned her first collegiate RBI as she walked to score Mitchell. After a pop out, Lily Lauck ripped a 2-RBI single center to bring Nagel and Hopf around the bases.
The Bulls held a 3-0 lead until the bottom of the fourth inning when the Rebels scored 6 runs on 4 hits and 2 errors.
