BUFFALO, NY – The University at Buffalo women's soccer team was represented by six student-athletes on the 2024 College Sports Communicators (formerly CoSIDA) Academic All-District Women's Soccer Team, as announced by the organization on Tuesday.
Fifth year student-athlete Olivia Bizzoni, seniors Kaylin Ricci and Kaya Schultz, Arianna Zumpano and Moa Andersson and junior Sarah Woods were all named to this year's Academic All-District squad.
To be eligible for Academic All-District honors, student-athletes must be a starter or important reserve with at least a 3.50 cumulative grade point average.
The 2024 Academic All-District Women's Soccer Teams, selected by College Sports Communicators, recognize the nation's top student-athletes for their combined performances on the field and in the classroom. The CSC Academic All-America® program separately recognizes soccer honorees in four divisions — NCAA Division I, NCAA Division II, NCAA Division III and NAIA.
Schultz, a public health major with a 3.908 GPA, earns Academic All-District Honors for the second straight year after receiving All-MAC Second Team honors for the first time in her decorated UB career, in which she appeared in 71 games and earning 57 starts across four seasons. The West Orange, NJ native started 17 games for the Bulls this season, recording a goal and four assists while also serving as the anchor for a dangerous midfield attack.
An Econometrics & Quantitative Economics major with a 3.909 GPA, Bizzoni also earns Academic All-District Honors for the second straight year. Bizzoni made an impact at any position she played over her decorated five-year career. She had a solid senior season in which she recorded two goals and an assist on 23 shots.
Ricci, a health and human services major with a 3.682 GPA, was also a mainstay in the Bulls' lineup over her four years in Buffalo. She was an anchor of a UB midfield which helped the Bulls lead the league and rank in the top 25 nationally in goals against average (.70) save percentage (.848) and shutout percentage (.550).
A business administration major with a 3.97 GPA, Andersson was a key reserve for the Bulls this season, helping to lead a UB midfield to great success.
Zumpano, a mathematics major with a 3.561 GPA, earns Academic All-District Honors for the second straight year after a solid senior campaign in which she finished second on the team with four goals, all in league play, and total shots (32).
A health and human services major with a 4.0 GPA, Woods had a breakthrough junior season in which she recorded career-highs in goals (2), assists (4), points (8) and total shots (27).
