BUFFALO, N.Y. – The University at Buffalo cross country and track & field team announced the signings of Jing Ren, Nick Hockenbury, and Manuel Sepulveda on Thursday morning. The program is excited about these national letters of intent as Jing, Hockenbury, and Sepulveda will be competing for the Bulls track & field squad and Hockenbury will be competing for the Bulls cross country squad starting in the 2023-24 campaign.

He was a PA state finalist in the 3200m running a personal best of 9:23.95 as a junior. Hockenbury plans to major in Political Science/Pre-Law. Associate Head Coach Todd Witzleben says, "He's a strong athlete who trains at a very high level. We look forward to working together as we build a national level distance program at UB."
Sepulveda, from East Rochester, NY (East Rochester High School) is one of the top jumpers in the state, along with being an excellent sprinter. He is a multiple-time state finalist and the 2022 NYS Champion in the Triple Jump with personal best marks of 48'3.5"/Triple Jump and 22'6"/Long Jump. Sepulveda plans to major in Exercise Science. "This is the beginning of a very exciting new class for 2023. Over the last year we have been working to find key prospects that will continue to build the program and raise the level of our Men's and Women's teams both in the Mid-American Conference and in the NCAA," stated Head Coach and Director of Track and Field/Cross Country Vicki Mitchell. "Our coaches have proven we can develop any student-athlete into an NCAA National Level competitor with the knowledge, training, facilities, and support that we have for our student-athletes."
