
Buffalo Women Earn First Place at St. John Fisher Rodenbeck Invite

ROCHESTER, NY – The University at Buffalo cross country program began its season at the St. John Fisher University Rodenbeck Invite on Friday. The Bulls opened the season on a strong note, having the top finisher in both the men's and women's races.
The Buffalo women began the evening by winning the 4k race. Vassi Klock finished first overall in the field of 150 runners with a time of 14:25.8. Bronagh Cassidy (2nd, 14:36.9) and Jacquie Appenheimer (4th, 14:44.9) also earned top-five finishes. Paris Welker (8th, 15:18.9) and Delaney Mansfield (9th, 15:23.1) rounded out the Bulls' top five finishers, securing the team's first-place finish.
The Bulls had 13 of the top 30 runners to place in the women's race. Ciena Ferguson (11th, 15:24.1), Brianna Urban (13th, 15:27.9), Fiona Klingbeil (14th, 15:34.1) and Allison Newton (18th, 15:39.7) all finished inside the top 20. Leslie Villafuerte Castro (23rd, 15:49.2), Samantha Moury (25th, 15:53.4), Brianna Carter (27th, 15:57.1) and Megan Breslin (28th, 15:57.9) rounded out the Bulls runners to place inside the top 30. The Buffalo women had 18 runners compete, with all finishing inside the top 75.
On the men's side, the Bulls had the field's top finisher in newcomer Cameron Bogdan. The junior placed first in the field of 131 runners with a course record time of 18:52.5. Two more runners competed for the Bulls, Nicholas Hockenbury (76th, 21:49.4) and Fernando Sanchez (86th, 22:19.5), both finishing inside the top 100.
