Cross Country To Compete at Penn State Spiked Shoe Invite on Friday

BUFFALO, NY – The University at Buffalo cross country program is set to compete at Penn State's Spiked Shoe Invite on Friday, the team's second meet of the 2025 season. The women's 6k race begins at 10 a.m., with the men scheduled to begin the 8k race at 10:45 a.m.
The Bulls opened their season on a strong note at St. John Fisher two weeks ago, having the first-place runner in both the men's and women's races at the Rodenbeck Invite. Cameron Bogdan won the men's 6k for the Bulls, finishing first in the field of 131 runners with a time of 18:52.5.
Vassi Klock led the women's program to place first of 11 teams, winning the women's 4k in a field of 150 runners with a time of 14:25.8. Bronagh Cassidy (2nd, 14:36.9) and Jacquie Appenheimer (4th, 14:44.9) also posted top-five finishes. Paris Welker (8th, 15:18.9) and Delaney Mansfield (9th, 15:23.1) rounded out the Bulls' top five runners to place, securing the team's first-place finish.
The Bulls' top nine finishers on the women's side are all returning to action for the Spiked Shoe Invite 6k. On the men's side, Bogdan returns, joined by numerous upperclassmen making their season debut. Matt Gensel (19th, 24:51.62) and Jacob Brink (20th, 24:53.27) are among those competing in their first meet of the season, both of whom placed inside the top 20 runners at Mid-American Conference Championships last fall.
Friday marks the fourth consecutive season the Bulls have competed at the Spiked Shoe Invite. The annual meet features regionally and nationally ranked programs. All results from this year's Spiked Shoe Invite can be accessed here. All information regarding the meet can be found here.
