KALAMAZOO, MICH. – The University at Buffalo cross country program competed at the Mid-American Conference Championships on Friday afternoon, hosted by Western Michigan University.
The Buffalo men finished eighth of 10 teams in the 8k race with a score of 209. Senior Cameron Bogdan led the way for the fourth time this season, placing 20th with a time of 24:41.0. The Bulls' next four finishers were all freshmen, with Evan Feider (35th, 25:03.3), Gage Feider (53rd, 25:39.4), Caleb Feider (57th, 25:51.1) and Andrew Green (58th, 25:55.3) rounding out the team's top five. Caleb Feider's time was a new personal record. Xavier Gordon (65th, 26:10.0), Ethan Verbosky (82nd, 27:13.9) and Simon Aguilar (83rd, 27:16.7) also competed for the Bulls. Six of the team's seven competitors were underclassmen.
The Buffalo women placed 11th of 12 teams, posting a score of 310. All seven of the Bulls' runners had personal best 6k times. Meghana Reddy led the program for the fourth race this season, posting a time of 21:50.4 to place 54th. Ella Reilly was next to place for the women, finishing 60th with a time of 21:57.7. Sophie Brettholtz (72nd, 22:16.8), Megan Smith (80th, 22:38.0) and Leslie Villafuerte Castro (89th, 22:56.9) rounded out the program's top five finishers. Reese Wilber (99th, 23:17.0) and Kaitlyn Edinger (104th, 23:32.5) also competed.
"I'm proud of their races," said Program Director and Head Coach Vicki Mitchell. "The women ran well and gave it their all. The men's team gained valuable experience running at a high-intensity meet like conference championships. We will only get stronger from here."
