
Women’s Cross Country Sets Personal Best Times at Canisius Alumni Classic

BUFFALO, NY – The University at Buffalo cross country program participated in the Canisius Alumni Classic for the fourth consecutive year on Saturday, competing amongst local programs in North Buffalo's Delaware Park. The Bulls' day was highlighted by the women's program posting five personal records.
The Buffalo women placed fifth of 14 teams in the 5k race. Ella Reilly was the team's top finisher, taking 14th with a time of 18:44.0. Reilly's time was a personal best for the 5k distance, breaking her previous personal record of 19:53.6. Allison Newton (22nd, 19:01.2) and Lexi Bernard (27th, 19:09.0) also posted top 30 finishes in the field of 154 runners. Newton's time was also a personal best. Leslie Villa-Fuerte Castro (34th, 19:34.2) and Kaitlyn Edinger (44th, 19:45.1) rounded out the Buffalo top five. Edinger's time was a new personal best.
Reese Wilber (47th, 19:49.4) and Brianna Carter (49th, 19:54.9) also earned top 50 placements. Both were personal best times.
The Bulls had three student-athletes compete in the men's 8k race. Kevin Sherry was the top finisher for the Bulls, placing 37th in the field of 173 runners with a time of 26:47.6. Fernando Sanchez placed 83rd with a time of 28:16.4. Nicholas Hockenbury rounded out the Bulls' runners, taking 101st (28:57.4).

MAC CHAMPIONSHIPS
