
Cross Country To Host MAC Championships on Saturday

BUFFALO, NY – The University at Buffalo cross country program is set to host the Mid-American Conference Championships on Saturday, November 1st, at Audubon Golf Course. The men's 8k is scheduled to begin at 11 a.m. and the women's 6k race is expected to begin at noon.
The Bulls will welcome 12 conference opponents to Buffalo for MAC Championships. The program is hosting conference championships for the first time since 2012. The Bulls last hosted a postseason cross country meet in 2019 with the NCAA Northeast Championships.
On the men's side, four programs are regionally ranked heading into conference championships, all in the Great Lakes region. The Buffalo men began the season ranked 13th in the Northeast region but fell out of the rankings despite strong performances. At the Paul Short Run, the Buffalo men placed 19th of 40 teams in the gold 8k race, finishing ahead of six programs from the Northeast region and six ranked programs from the Mid-Atlantic region.
The Buffalo men posted four personal best 8k times at the Princeton Fall Classic, the team's final weekend of competition ahead of MAC Championships. Cameron Bogdan led the way with a personal best time of 24:20.5, the fastest time on the Bulls' roster this season. Noah Brightman (24:32.4), Collin Stafford (24:52.3) and Luke Stoeffler (25:03.6) also posted personal best times.
On the women's side, six programs are regionally ranked headed into conference championships, five in the Great Lakes region and one in the Northeast region. The Buffalo women did not receive a regional ranking this season despite strong performances. At the Paul Short Run, the Bulls finished fourth of 39 teams in the collegiate brown 6k field, placing ahead of 15 Northeast region opponents.
The Buffalo women posted five personal records of their own at the Princeton Fall Classic. Vassi Klock was the team's top runner, posting a new personal record of 21:07.7. Klock's time was the fastest on the Bulls' roster this season. Bronagh Cassidy (21:19.1) and Jacquie Appenheimer (21:57.5) were next to place for the Bulls, both earning personal records of their own. Paris Welker (163rd, 22:17.0) and Fiona Klingbeil (22:32.5) rounded out the team's top five. Ciena Ferguson (22:34.2) and Sophie Brettholtz (23:02.2) also had personal record times.
