BUFFALO, NY – The University at Buffalo cross country program is scheduled to compete in the 2025 NCAA Northeast Regional Championships on Friday afternoon in Contoocook, New Hampshire, at the Hopkinton Fairgrounds. The women's 6k race begins at 11 a.m. with the men's 10k race scheduled for noon.
The Bulls enter NCAA Northeast Regional Championships following a strong performance at the Mid-American Conference Championships, with the men posting their lowest score since 2020 and the women with their highest placement since 2017.
The Buffalo men placed fourth of 10 teams in the 8k race at conference championships. The team's 97 points tied Akron for third place, but the Zips held the tiebreaker to take sole possession of the podium finish. The Bulls' 97 points were the program's best score at conference championships since 2020 (94).
Jacob Brink (7th, 24:31.4) became the first Buffalo runner to earn All-MAC First Team honors since Ryan Buzby in 2022. Noah Brightman (12th, 24:41.1) also earned All-MAC Second Team honors.
The Buffalo men will run their first 10k of the season at the NCAA Northeast Regionals.
Bronagh Cassidy led the way for the Buffalo women, helping the program to their best finish since 2017. The senior was less than ten seconds shy of her personal record (21:19.1) and placed 23rd. Vassi Klock (27th, 21:32.1) also posted a top 30 finish. Jacquie Appenheimer (42nd, 22:02.1), Fiona Klingbeil (62nd, 22:30.8) and Allison Newton (74th, 22:58.4) rounded out the Bulls top five.
