
Bulls Conclude Opening Weekend At Orange Lawn Invitational

PRINCETON, NJ – The University at Buffalo men's team finished its opening weekend of action, facing competitors from Princeton, Yale, and Penn at the Orange Lawn Invitational.
On Friday, the Bulls played competitors from Princeton, winning a pair of singles matches. Senior Simon Wibler defeated Bill Duo in three sets, 0-6, 6-3, 10-8, while Purdue transfer Santiago Galan won in straight sets over Filippos Astreinidis, 6-4, 6-3.
On Saturday, the Bulls got matched up against the University of Pennsylvania and newcomer Cheng "Rex" Tang won his first match with a 6-3, 1-6, 7-6 (3) victory over Tal Goodman.
Sunday's action concluded as the Bulls faced off against Yale and UB had success against the Bulldogs with three singles victories and one in doubles. Galan came away with a three-set win over Shervin Dehmoubed, 6-3, 1-6, 6-0. Wibler and Tang also won three set matches as Wibler beat Robert Shymansky 6-2, 2-6, 6-2 and Tang defeated Renaud Lefevre, 7-6 (3), 3-6, 10-8.
In doubles, Wibler and Tang defeated Shymansky and Lefevre, 8-2.
"First we want to thank the staff at Orange Lawn for hosting this event," said head coach Lee Nickell. "It was great getting to coach again in a fall tournament after almost two years off. We learned a great deal about our players, and I am very proud of the way we competed. We look forward to having our full squad next weekend in Binghamton."
Buffalo continues fall action next weekend at the Binghamton Invitational.
