
Bulls Have Success At Binghamton Invitational

BINGHAMTON, NY – The University at Buffalo men's tennis team competed this weekend at the Binghamton Invitational and had success as most of the team competed in the three-day event.
Santiago Galan competed in the A Singles Draw where he dropped his first two matches, but then came away with a 7-6 (5), 6-4 victory on Sunday. Senior Simon Wibler won the B Singles Draw as he was a perfect 3-0 on the week. He won his opening match 6-2, 3-6, 10-8 and followed that up with another three set win on Saturday, 3-6, 6-1, 11-9. Wibler won the flight in straight sets against Shourya Verma of Binghamton, 6-3, 6-2. Danils Snaiders also competed in the B Flight where he won his first match in straight sets.
Cheng "Rex" Tang competed in the C Singles Draw and he won his first match 6-3, 6-4. Tang retired in his match on Saturday. Sophomore Tom Owen reached the finals of the D Singles Draw beginning with a 6-3, 6-1 win and he followed it up with a 1-6, 6-3, 10-5 victory on Saturday. He lost in three sets in the finals, 6-7 (4), 6-4, 10-8. Jonah Murphy competed in the F Singles Draw and he also reached the finals beginning with a 7-6 (3), 6-3 win and then winning 6-4, 6-3 on Saturday. He dropped the final in three sets, 6-7 (2), 6-3, 10-5.
In doubles, Wibler and Tang went a perfect 3-0 in the Green Doubles Draw, while Snaiders and Galan were 2-1 in the same draw. Owen and Murphy competed in the White Doubles Draw and they also went 2-1.
The Bulls will next compete at the ITA Regionals in the middle of October.
