Emily Kelly Named MAC Defensive Player of the Week

BUFFALO, NY – University at Buffalo women's soccer sophomore goalkeeper Emily Kelly was named Mid-American Conference Defensive Player of the Week, as announced by the conference office on Tuesday. This is the first weekly honor for Kelly and the Bulls this season.
The sophomore keeper continued her strong play as she helped guide the Bulls to a 2-0 weekend with a pair of victories over Saint Francis (PA) and Niagara.
Kelly recorded her first shutout win, and second clean sheet, of the season in a 1-0 victory over Niagara on Sunday. She recorded a season-high six saves while facing 11 shots in the win. Kelly also made three stops on four attempts, including a huge penalty kick save in the 58th minute, in a 4-1 win at Saint Francis on Thursday. For the week, Kelly made nine saves while facing 18 total shots.
On the year, the Wilson, NY native has posted a 3-2-1 record with a 0.84 goals-against average while making 16 stops on the season.
Kelly and the Bulls will return to the pitch on Sunday night as they face the Oregon Ducks in Eugene at 8pm.
