Four Bulls Advance to Flight Finals in Singles

KALAMAZOO, MI - Just like the first day of the MAC Invite, the UB men's tennis team found success during the second day of the event. After Friday consisted of solely doubles play, the Bulls competed in singles play on Saturday. Four of their six student-athletes will play in a finals match tomorrow.
In order to save time, the MAC coaches agreed ahead of the event to play third sets as a tiebreaker to 10 (win by 2) instead of conventional scoring.
Amar Hromic will play in the "Flight A Singles" Championship game against Toledo's Sisko. He advanced to the championship round with two straight-set wins, 6-3, 6-4, and 6-3, 6-2, respectively. Sergio Arevalillo will play against Western Michigan's Olivarez in the "Flight D" final. He won 7-6, 6-0 against NIU's Russel and, 6-3, 3-6, 10-6, against Binghamton's Bouchet to advance to the championship game.
The "Flight E" Championship game will feature Akhil Mehta against Western Michigan's Schnobel. He advanced to the final after picking up, 6-4, 6-3, and 6-3,6-2, wins. Tony Miller went 2-0 in round robin play to play in the championship game in Flight F.
In "Flight B Singles" Ethan Nittolo lost the first match of the day, 4-6, 6-4, 10-6. He will play in the Consolation Final against Toledo's Espinosa after winning 6-1, 6-4, in his second singles match of the day. Noah Hajdu-Andersson lost two matches in "Flight C" action, 5-7, 7-5, 11-9, and 4-6, 6-1, 10-7. He will play for seventh place against NIU's Manzanas.
