2013-14: Bates cleared a season-best indoor height of 3.65 meters in the pole vault as a sophomore to win the SPIRE DI Invitational...went on to post a 3.80-meter clear during the outdoor season on two occasions...placed second at the Cornell Big Red Invitational and third at the Cornell Outdoor Invitational in the event.
Previous School: Vaulted at Binghamton as a freshman...placed sixth at the America East Indoor Championships.
Personal: Born in Derby, NY... Daughter of Robin and Brian Bates... Was a four-year letterwinner at Lake Shore High School... The runner up in the pole vault at the 2012 NYS Outdoor Championships... Finished fourth in pole vault at the state indoor meet her senior year... Attended Binghamton before transferring to Buffalo as a sophomore.
