2014-15: Alvarez led the Bulls to their first MAC Championship title and NCAA appearance in program history earning MAC Tournament Most Outstanding Player and MAC All-Tournament Team accolades...named to the All-MAC Second Team as a junior...compiled a team-best singles record of 26-17 playing primarily the first and second positions...went 20-14 in doubles play...teamed with Amar Hromic to post a 6-5 record and a 3-1 showing at second doubles during MAC play...recorded MAC Singles Player of the Week nods on Jan. 28 and March 4...selected UB Male Athlete of the Week on Oct. 20 after winning five matches to advance to the round of 16 in both singles and doubles at the USTA/ITA Northeast Regional.
2013-14: Alvarez competed primarily in third singles and third doubles as a sophomore...tallied an overall singles record of 7-14, highlighted by a 2-1 performance in tournament action...went 10-4 in third doubles and was 2-1 in tournament play for a solid 12-5 doubles showing...helped UB claim the doubles point in the MAC championship match teaming with Sebastian Ionescu to defeat Ball State''s third doubles pair, 8-5.
2012-13: Joined the team in January 2013...named the Mid-American Conference’s Newcomer of the Year...went 11-8 overall in singles, including a 4-1 record in MAC duals...competed in four doubles matches...defeated Western Michigan’s Ruben Greiner in the MAC semifinals in straight sets, 6-4, 6-2...also bested Greiner in the regular season to help UB upset the Broncos for the first time in program history.
