Men’s Tennis Adds Championship Experience To Roster

BUFFALO, NY - University at Buffalo men's tennis head coach Lee Nickell announced the signing of two student-athletes to the roster for the 2024-25 season.
Hailing from Mumbai, India, Faiz Nasyam comes to Buffalo after helping Tyler Junior College secure the 2024 Junior College national championship as well as having success individually, winning a national championship in his flight at nationals. In 2023, Nasyam was the 2023 regional runner up in singles with a fourth-place finish at nationals and was the doubles runner up for his region, finishing third at fall Nationals.
Nickell on Nasyam: "We are truly excited for Faiz to be joining the Bulls Family this Fall. Faiz is a tough competitor who has a wealth of experience and success in a team atmosphere, and we believe his tennis is on the way up. He is also a national champion as an individual which is a tremendous accomplishment. He will make an instant contribution with his tennis and leadership skills, and we can't wait to get on court with him!"
Clement Mainguy, who hails from Port-Vila, Vanuatu, comes to UB after a successful start to his collegiate career at Youngstown State. He was the 2022 Horizon League Freshman of the Year after setting school records for singles wins in a season and finishing the season with a 19-3 record in dual matches. He is also a member of Davis Cup for Vanuatu and reached a career high of 174 in the ITF World Junior Rankings prior to Youngstown.
Nickell on Mainguy: "We have known Clement for a few years now and we are extremely proud that he will be joining us next year. A winner both on court and in the classroom, he will make an instant impact for our program and be a wonderful addition to the University. Clement has been successful as a number one singles player against many of the teams we play. We look forward to seeing him compete for the Blue and White!"
