CHICAGO, IL – The University at Buffalo men's tennis team battled back but the rally fell short as they dropped a 4-3 decision at UIC on Sunday afternoon.
UIC won the doubles point with wins at the first and third position to take a 1-0 lead in the match.
The Bulls battled back in singles action as Theodoros Mitsakos cruised to a 6-2, 6-1 win at fifth singles, Yunhan Jiang picked up a 6-2, 6-2 win at sixth singles and Michael Malkin won 6-4, 6-0 at the fourth position to tie the match at three but the hosts clinched the match with a win at second singles.
"Obviously we are disappointed with the way things have started this MAC season," said head coach Lee Nickell. "We are steadfast in improving and righting the ship over the next three weeks."
The Bulls continue their road swing on Friday, March 29 at Western Michigan.
