
Bulls Finish Season In Regional Rankings

BUFFALO, NY – The University at Buffalo men's tennis team finished the season regionally ranked fifth in the Northeast region, the Intercollegiate Tennis Association announced, while three UB players were ranked in singles action.
Monmouth finished first in the Northeast, followed by St. John's, Army West Point, and the University of Pennsylvania, before the Bulls were slotted fifth. In a season shortened due to COVID, the Bulls picked up five wins, facing a tough schedule that included three Mid-American Conference teams that found their way into the national rankings through out the season.
In singles, seniors Bjoern Petersen, Valdemar Holm, and Matthew Johnson were all ranked. Petersen, who spent the entire season at first singles for Buffalo, was ranked ninth. He recorded six win on the season.
Holm and Johnson, who each split time between second and third singles, were ranked 13th and 15th in the region, respectively. Holm won five matches on the year, while Johnson scored seven singles victories, including ending the year on three-match winning streak.
