
Bulls Dominate UB Mid-Week Invite

BUFFALO, N.Y. – The University at Buffalo track and field team hosted the UB Mid-Week Invitational on Wednesday afternoon. Both the men's and women's squads defended their home turf as they both won the UB Mid-Week Invite. This was the Bull's first home meet since April of 2019 as last year's outdoor season was canceled due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
THE TRACK
In the women's 100-meter dash, it was full steam ahead as Priscilla Faa (12.42-seconds), Antoinette Miller (12.66-seconds), Travasia Singletary (12.68-seconds), Christina Wende (12.86-seconds) and Jalasia Demember (13.24-seconds) would finished 1-2-3-4-5, respectively.
The men followed the women's success in the 100-meter dash as Jeremy Lissade (11.23-seconds), Chineme Ononiwu (11.30-seconds), Humphrey Banful (11.39-seconds) and Anthony Brinson (11.67-seconds) finished 1-2-3-4, respectively.
Jaron Meyer won the 200-meter dash in 21.99-seconds with Elijah Kerner just behind for second place in 22.77-seconds.
It wouldn't stop there, in the 200-metere dash, Kamryn Hodges would win with a time of 25.97-seconds with Emma Seiders (26.46-seconds, second place), Samantha Shea (26.51-seconds, third place) and Kiaya Franklin (26.87-seconds, fourth place) right behind Hodges.
Sydney March would go on and win the 400-meter dash in 56.59-seconds.
Thomas Flannery and Benjamin Cardamone had great races in both the 800 and 1,500-meter runs. Flannery won the 800 in 1:58.80 and finished second in the 1,500 in 3:52.42. Cardamone finished second in the 800 with a time of 1:59.05 but would win the 1,500 in 3:51.91.
THE FIELD
The field is a Bull's natural habitat and it showed Wednesday afternoon as they UB Bulls were grazing in wins. Rachel Donner had a day as she won both the shot put (12.63-meters) and the discus (42.51-meters). Jonathan Surdej (16.34-meters) and Sam Wray (51.38-meters) would join Donner with shot put and discus wins, respectively.
Samantha Hjelmar's dominance from the indoor season carries over to the outdoor season as she won the women's high jump with a height of 1.67-meters (5'-05.75"). Miller would finish in second (1.61-meters).
Fresh off his NCAA Indoor Championship performance, Brandon Burke won the men's high jump with a height of 2.06-meters.
The Bulls would take the top-three positions in the women's long jump with Wende leading the way with a leap of 5.55-meters. Samantha Spinella finished second with 5.40-meters as Naiomi Meran claimed third with 5.13-meters. Nisa Raqib won the women's triple jump with a distance of 10.92-meters.
Jacob Liberati won the men's long jump with a surge of 6.52-meters.
Freshman Imahni Sinclair won the women's hammer throw with a toss of 50.54-meters. On the men's side, Caleb Nickens would win with a distance of 56.60-meters.
Earnie Burapan won reach great heights in the pole vault as she would win with a height of 3.55-meters.
NEXT UP
The Bulls are back in action on Saturday, April 17 as they host the UB Invitational. The meet is scheduled to kick off at 3 p.m.
