2017-2018: competed at MAC T&F Indoor and outdoor Championships,
2018-2019: Set personal best of 1.70m/5'7" at the Akron Invite, competed at the MAC Championships.
2019-2020: Redshirt.

High School Highlights: Seven-time medalist at NYS Championships in the High Jump, won National Emerging Elite HJ in 2014

Parents are Dave and Elsa Hjelmar, two older siblings - Brad (26) and Katie (24). She is inspired by seeing other athletes come back from injury. Favorite athlete is Erik Kynard, ruptured his non-jumping leg Achilles and is now preparing to compete for the next Olympics. Enjoys kayaking and hiking. Favorite TV Show is Sherlock. Can't live without Coffee and dark chocolate. A random Fun Fact: Traveled to Greece and ran a lap around the track where the first Olympic Games was held. Why Samantha chose UB: Chose UB because of the balance between athletics and academics.
