BUFFALO, NY – The University at Buffalo women's soccer team (0-0-0, 0-0-0 MAC) earned a 4-2 victory over the Cleveland State Vikings on Wednesday afternoon in their exhibition opener. The Bulls offense was able to produce four goals, including a pair of goals by freshman.

How It Happened
- The Bulls had the first shot of the match in the sixth minute as Celina Carrero got free but her right-footed shot was blocked by a Viking defender.
- In the 11th minute, senior Celina Carrero had a great chance to give the Bulls the lead but her blast ricocheted off the post and was cleared away.
- Cleveland State was able to get on the board first in the 14th minute as Haleigh Shingary forced a Buffalo turnover and found the back of the net.
- The Bulls didn't waste much time getting the equalizer as Angel Hart sent a great corner into the box where Moira Petrie fired a shot off the far post and into the net in the 24th minute.
- At the start of the second period, Carissima Cutrona had a chance to give the Bulls the lead but her shot was turned aside by Jamie Daniels.
- In the 46th minute, Julia Benati was able to give UB the 3-1 lead as she buried her first goal of the contest.
- Freshman Gurjeena Jandu then scored off a nice corner kick from Julia Benati to give the Bulls the dominant 3-1 lead midway through the second quarter.
- After a short lightning delay, the Vikings were able to draw within one, 3-2, as Kaila Sargema scored on the penalty kick.
- The Bulls responded quickly in the 80th minute as Carley Zoccali knocked a rebound into the back of the net to give the Bulls the 4-2 edge and eventual victory.

- The two teams played three 30 minute periods.
- The Bulls held the 8-1 edge in shots in the first quarter, a 5-1 edge in the second and a 4-3 advantage in the third.
- Freshmen Gurjeena Jandu and Carley Zoccali each netted goals in the win for UB.
- Cleveland State goalkeeper Jamie Daniels made six saves in the loss while Laura Dougall made one save in the UB victory.
- Buffalo held the 6-3 edge in corner kicks in the win.
