Damien David Named to Academic All-MAC

CLEVELAND, OH – The Mid-American Conference announced the 2014 Men's Tennis Academic All-MAC Team Tuesday morning, as voted by the league Faculty Athletic Representatives. Junior Damien David, who was previously named the MAC Player of the Year, was also named to the ten-man Academic All-MAC team, while sophomore Sergio Arevalillo earned honorable mention.
This is the first MAC academic honor for David, who earned an impressive 3.28 grade point average as a Civil Engineering major. David had a 3-1 MAC record in singles play and 10-9 overall as he led Buffalo to the MAC Tournament Championship match against Ball State. During the Spring dual season, in which the team achieved its first national ranking in program history, David was named the MAC Singles Player of the Week on April 9 and shared Doubles Team of the Week honors with Akhil Mehta on March 16.
Arevalillo, a business major with a 3.257 GPA, made the five-member honorable mention team.
Nominees must have a minimum 3.20 cumulative grade point average to be eligible for the team.
