Mehta and David Named MAC Doubles Team of the Week

BUFFALO, NY - Sophomore Akhil Mehta and junior Damien David were named as the Mid-American Conference's doubles team of the week, the conference office announced Thursday. The duo went a perfect 3-0 to help lead the team to a pair of wins on the road. It is the first doubles honor for UB this season, and the second weekly honor for the Bulls in 2014.
As the Bulls' number one doubles team, Mehta and David continued to roll this past weekend, going undefeated. It began Friday with a 6-3 win that would clinch the doubles point in a 5-2 win over Bryant. Then on Saturday, the duo earned a win over Ivy League foe Brown with an easy 8-4 decision. The team's biggest win would come to close out the weekend on Sunday, as it scratched out an 8-7 win that would clinch the doubles point in a 5-1 win over Boston that saw two of the team's top starters sit due to injury.
The pair will lead the team into the MAC duals season with seven wins this season. Conference season begins Sunday, March 23 as Toledo comes to Miller Tennis Center for a 1 pm match.
