Jessica Jones Promoted To Associate Head Coach

BUFFALO, NY - University at Buffalo softball head coach Jen Teague has announced that fourth-year assistant coach Jessica Jones has been promoted to associate head coach. Since joining the Bulls in 2009, Jones has overseen the UB pitching staff as well as all of the program's recruiting efforts. Jones has also worked hard with the UB hitters, improving the team's overall batting average each season.
"Jess has been a constant support to me and the vision that we have for this program," said Teague. "She has helped increase our batting average every year and helped keep our defense amongst the top in the MAC. I truly believe she is one of the top assistant coaches in the country and we are lucky to have her."
Jones has served on the staff at Buffalo since Teague was named head coach prior to 2009. Since then, she has helped coach the Bulls to just their second ever appearance in the MAC Tournament, as well as tying the program record for wins back in her first season.
"I am extremely excited to continue moving forward with the Buffalo softball program as associate head coach," said Jones. "I am very grateful for the show of appreciation and trust from Coach Teague and the administration. More importantly, I am grateful for the opportunity I have been given up to this point and all I have learned over the last several years. I look forward to continuing to grow as a coach and continuing to help grow softball here at Buffalo and in the Western New York community."
Prior to joining the Bulls, Jones spent four seasons as the top assistant at fellow Mid-American Conference member, Ohio.
With the Bobcats, Jones served as the pitching/catching coach and was also the recruiting coordinator. She assisted the head coach in all aspects of running a successful Division I program, including practice planning; scouting; team travel; monitoring the program's budget, team hitting and short game, and player evaluation.
Jones graduated from Purdue in May of 2004 with a degree in communications with an emphasis on public relations. She minored in organizational leadership supervision. She played four years for the Boilermakers at third base and catcher and was named All-Big Ten her senior year and all-region her freshman campaign. She was also named Academic All-Big Ten from 2001 to 2003. Following her collegiate playing career, Jones served as the student assistant coach for Purdue for the 2003-04 season and after that concluded a six-month stint playing professionally in the Italian A1 League.
