Starakiewicz Named to Academic All-MAC Tennis Team

BUFFALO, NY – University at Buffalo junior Wojceich Starakiewicz was one of six individuals named to the Academic All-Mid-American Conference Team. The league announced the squad this afternoon from its Cleveland headquarters.
Starakiewicz, a communication major with a a 3.860 grade point average, played first singles and doubles for the Bulls in the 2010-11 season. The 2011 All-MAC First Team selection finished the season with a 14-11 singles record and went 13-11 in doubles play, including a 4-1 mark against MAC opposition. During the fall portion of the season, Starakiewicz won the A-1 Flight singles title at the Cornell Fall Classic.
Joining Starakiewicz on the squad are three-time Academic All-MAC selections Knot Likitkumchorn of Toledo and Kazuya Komada of Western Michigan and two-time honorees Cliff Morrison of Ball State and Pablo Olivarez of Western Michigan with Ball State's Dalton Albertin named for the first time.
To be nominated, a student-athlete must have at least a 3.20 cumulative GPA and have participated in at least 50 percent of the contests for that particular sport. First-year students and junior college transfers in their first year of residence are not eligible for the award. The Academic All-MAC team is voted on by the league's faculty athletic representatives.
