Melanie Bliz was promoted to the Assistant AD for Student-Athlete Enrichment in June 2022 after serving as the Director of Learning Services within the Office of Athletic Academic Affairs. She began working at UB in July 2014 as an athletic academic advisor, after working at Niagara County Community College as a developmental academic advisor. In her current role, Melanie provides oversight in the areas of academic excellence and social development within the department of athletics. She directly oversees learning services for all student athletes, coordinates diversity, equity, and inclusion initiatives and programming for student-athletes, coaches, and staff, and provides input on any issues pertaining to the holistic student-athlete experience. She also serves as the academic advisor for the Men's Basketball student-athletes.
Melanie graduated from the University at Buffalo with an undergraduate degree in Health and Human Services in 2010 and was a four year member of the University at Buffalo Dance Team, the UB Dazzlers. She then went on to earn her master’s degrees at Canisius College in both Sport Administration (2012) and Higher Education and Student Affairs Administration (2012). She is currently pursuing her PhD in Curriculum, Instruction, and the Science of Learning (CISL) at the University at Buffalo.
