
Sabol and Freitag Earn All-MAC Honors

CLEVELAND, Ohio – The Mid-American Conference announced their postseason men's basketball awards on Wednesday morning. Earning honors was junior guard Ryan Sabol and sophomore guard Daniel Freitag. Sabol took home All-MAC Third Team honors as Freitag was tabbed to the All-MAC Honorable Mention Team.
Sabol started all 18 conference games for the Bulls where he averaged a MAC-high 37.8 mpg including three games playing every minute. He scored in double figures in 17 of the 18 games leading to an average of 19.7 ppg, good for third in the MAC. The Washington, D.C. native was just one of four players in the MAC to score at least 20 points 10 times during league play. The sharp three-point shooter led the MAC with 73 made threes. In nine games he drained at least five three-pointers. Against UMass (2/21) on the road, he recorded his first career double-double with 10 points and 10 assists. Sabol's 3.7 apg ranked 13th in the conference. This is his first All-MAC honor in his career.
Freitag appeared in 11 games for the Bulls with 10 starts. He averaged 20.2 ppg in his 33.8 mpg. In his 11 games played, he scored in double figures 10 times including scoring a career-high 33 points at Northern Illinois (12/31) and against Kent State (1/13). The Minnesota native was one of four players to record a pair of 30-point games in conference play. His 4.8 apg led the team as he added 3.5 rpg. A masterclass in getting to the free throw line, his 73 made free throws were sixth in the MAC. He had three games with at least 10 made free throws. This is his first All-MAC honor of his career.
This marks the first time since the 2021-22 season the Bulls took home two All-MAC honors.
