
Four Bulls Earn CSC Academic All-District Honors

INDIANAPOLIS – The University at Buffalo men's basketball team was represented by four student-athletes on the 2026 College Sports Communicators (formerly CoSIDA) Academic All-District Men's Basketball Team, as announced by the organization.
Senior Noah Batchelor, junior Ryan Sabol and graduate students Derrick Talton Jr. and Angelo Brizzi were named to this year's Academic All-District team. This marked the second time in their careers that Brizzi, Batchelor and Sabol earned this honor. This is Talton's first career CSC Academic All-District honor.
To be eligible for Academic All-District honors, student-athletes must be a starter or important reserve with at least a 3.50 cumulative grade point average.
The 2026 Academic All-District Men's Basketball Teams, selected by College Sports Communicators, recognize the nation's top student-athletes for their combined performances on the field and in the classroom. The CSC Academic All-America® program separately recognizes volleyball honorees in four divisions — NCAA Division I, NCAA Division II, NCAA Division III and NAIA.
Noah Batchelor, Senior, Guard/Forward, Communication
In his final collegiate season at Buffalo, Batchelor started in all 32 games this season. While averaging 30.7 minutes per game he totaled 235 points for 7.3 ppg. Second in total rebounds on the team, he tallied 146, good for 4.6 rpg. Batchelor added 43 assists, 9 blocks and 32 steals. He tied his career-high in scoring with 16 points against UMass (1/23). In Buffalo's season opening win against Southern Miss, he recorded a 12-point, 11-rebound double-double, the third of his career. He scored a career-high 5 three-pointers at UMass (2/21). The senior tallied 15 games with multiple three-pointers made. He scored in double figures 10 times on the year.
Angelo Brizzi, Grad, Guard, Sustainability Leadership
In his first season in the blue and white, Brizzi started all 32 games for the Bulls. He finished as the second leading scorer for the Bulls with 463 total points, good for 14.5 ppg. In conference play, he went on to average 15.9 ppg, good for 13th in the Mid-American Conference. He scored in double figures 25 times on the year including eight games with at least 20 points. He scored a career-high 27 points at UMass (2/21). At South Alabama (2/7), Brizzi buried a career-high eight three-pointers. Defensively, he recorded 58 steals. He became the first Bull to record 55 steals in a season since the 2019-20 season.
Ryan Sabol, Junior, Guard, Business Administration
Buffalo's longest tenured player started in all 32 games. Sabol averaged 36.2 mpg including four games with at least 40 minutes of action. The team leader in points became the third Bull in program history to surpass the 600-point mark in a single season, finishing with 603 points and 18.8 ppg. He became the 27th Bull in program history to reach the 1,000-point mark as he is up to 1,299 career points, good for 15th in school history. The junior guard finished the season with 17 20-point games including a pair of 30-point performances. He scored a career-high 32 points against Southern Miss (11/3) in the season opening win. Sabol also set the program single season three-pointers made record with 122, breaking Zach Filzen's 2010-11 record of 110. His 122 made threes was the fourth most made threes in Division I basketball prior to the NCAA Tournament. He recorded 22 games with at least three three-pointers including 15 games with 5+. The MAC leader in threes finished with 73 in conference play. In MAC play, he averaged 19.7 ppg, the third-best mark in the MAC. Sabol added 107 assists on the season as he was just the second Bull to record a 600-point, 100-assist season. He went on to earn All-MAC Third Team honors, his first All-MAC honor in his career.
Derrick Talton Jr., Grad, Guard, MBA – Management
The grad transfer played in all 32 games with 10 starts. He led the Bulls with 111 assists on the season, good for 3.5 apg. Against Akron (1/20) and South Alabama (2/7), Talton finished with a career-high 10 assists. He had seven games where he finished with at least five assists. Talton led the team in assists 13 times this season. In his second game with the Bulls, he scored 21 points against Green Bay (11/7). The Fort Worth, Texas native scored 169 points to go with 79 rebounds and 39 steals. In his collegiate career, he finished with 1,709 points.
